Our client who are a nationwide family-run Civil Engineering business based in Ambergate, Belper are searching for a Setting Out Engineer to join their team. Our client’s extensive portfolio includes projects with high-profile clients like Tarmac, CEMEX UK LTD, Aggregate Industries, and more. Specialising in formwork, steel reinforcement, ducting, drainage, and concreting.
Your requirements as the new Setting Out Engineer:
Set and maintain site level datums and set levels for excavation / backfill / finished concrete,
Perform all setting out within project tolerances,
Install profiles for the site teams to work to,
Carry out pre- and post-pour conformity checks (QA),
Extract relevant information from construction drawings,
Calculate basic maths, i.e., gradients, volumes, areas, Pythagoras, and trigonometry (bearings and distances if necessary),
Communicate with site supervisors/management to ensure works are set out within a suitable timescale to ensure project progression,
Check design information as it arrives and liaise with management if issues/errors are spotted,
Check temporary works and maintain paperwork.
Skills and experience as the new Setting Out Engineer:
At least 1 year of experience setting out and surveying within the civil engineering industry.
Be able to read and understand construction drawings.
Proficient using survey software (ideally LSS) and be able to produce volumes.
Good understanding of AutoCAD LT.
Be capable of producing as-built drawings.
Proficient in using a total station for surveying or setting out.
Proficient in using a GPS kit for surveying or setting out.
Proficient in using automatic and laser levels.
Be able to set out profile boards and batter rails to assist with earthworks projects.
Have a good understanding of site QA paperwork.
SSSTS or SMSTS.
Temporary works coordinator.
CSCS/SPA
About the role:
A full UK driving licence.
Be IT-proficient.
Good communication skills and reliability.
Must be willing to travel throughout the UK and lodge on occasion.
Standard hours would be 7:30 - 16:30 (18:00 when lodging) Mon-Fri (Weekend work occasionally)
£25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
