On behalf of our esteemed client, we are recruiting for a Transport Controller. 
 
The new Transport controller will be based at their Enfield site and will report to the Head of Logistics. 
 
The transport controller will be responsible for controlling the transport-related activities on site, whilst providing key support to the Head of Logistics. 
 
As the new Transport Controller, you will: 
 
Conduct a full debrief of all returning van drivers on van deliveries. Collect and organise all collection notes for return to Derby the next working day. 
Adhere to the Optimo Routeing schedule to ensure all drops are completed. If there are any issues, these should be reported to Derby Sales. Provide any training requirements to drivers to ensure adherence to the plan. 
Be responsible for the activities of all transport team members. This includes recruitment, starters and leavers, disciplinary controls where appropriate, controlling holiday booking forms, ensuring absence/return to work forms are prepared and completed, preparation of working rotas plus pay and bonus issues. 
Monitor the clocking report to make sure all transport staff clock in and out daily. 
Conduct monthly audits of Enfield based vehicles and complete paperwork requirements as per existing and/or future procedures. 
Respond to any defects reported. 
Collect and monitor working hours, provide statistical data of working hours of drivers to ensure compliance with the Road Transport Directive and other legislation etc. 
Compile, agree and monitor practical and measurable KPIs for the site’s Transport operation. 
Conduct PDP process on all team members. 
Control, monitor and report on tray reconciliation for the Enfield site. This will include accounting for all trays that may be left at customers and keeping records of all trays sent to Derby. 
Conduct a driving license check using a government portal and hard copy of license, done twice yearly. 
Identify and deliver training needs within the Transport operation. Ensure all staff complete required IHASCO training. 
Responsible for the health and safety for workplace transport activities, off site activities and competition of risk assessments. 
Investigate all accidents and near missed (both vehicles and employees). Complete company accident forms in preparation for submission to company insurers. 
Ensure resources are managed to allow for cover for holidays, sickness and other absences. Identify resource issues (both vehicles and drivers) as they arise and ensure the Head of Logistics is informed. 
Hours of work will be related to the business and holiday rota, so may include the occasional Saturday. 
Be or become familiar with the following packages: AX, Optimo, MS Office, The People Hub, and the FFM Report Manager application. 
 
Requirements for the role: 
 
Ideally, a minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising a busy transport operation (preferably multi temperature food transport). 
High quality leadership skills are considered essential to motivate and lead driving team working. 
Effective communication skills, both written and oral and a flexible approach to both duties and hours of work is required. 
Must have a good solid geographic knowledge of the UK, especially London and the Southeast. 
Good knowledge of MS Office (including Outlook, Excel, and Word) essential. 
Experience of transport management software essential and full training to be given when required. 
 
About the role: 
 
Hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:30pm (40-hour contract). 
The occasional Saturday may be required to cover for staff holidays and the business activities. 
Salary for the role is up to £40,000 (Depending on experience).
