Our client are a leading Specialist Steel fabricator in the East Midlands, committed to providing exceptional quality and precision across various projects. Recruit 2 You are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator with substantial experience in industrial steelwork to join our client’s team at their office based in Alfreton, Derbyshire. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can hit the ground running with minimal on-the-job training.
Position Summary:
The Senior Estimator will play a key role in accurately assessing project costs, preparing bids, and managing tender documentation. This individual will work on a range of industrial steelwork projects, from staircases and platforms to chimneys and ducting work, requiring an in-depth knowledge of steel construction techniques, including secondary steelwork installations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough cost analysis and estimation for a variety of industrial steelwork projects, including staircases, platforms, walkways, mezzanines, chimneys, and ducting.
Prepare accurate and detailed tender documents, proposals, and quotes.
Liaise with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather specifications and ensure alignment on project requirements.
Analyse project risks and opportunities, advising on potential cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
Maintain a comprehensive database of costs and materials to support the estimation process and track project budgets.
Lead bid preparation meetings and contribute to the development of bidding strategies.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Proven experience in the steelwork sector, with a strong understanding of industrial project requirements.
Ideally, has worked "on the tools" and possesses first-hand knowledge of steelwork construction processes.
Experience in tight-fit spliced connections and similar challenging installations.
Familiarity with staircases, platforms, walkways, mezzanines, chimneys, and ducting.
In cost estimation with an excellent attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable with estimation software, spreadsheets, and other industry-specific tools.
Additional Details:
This is an office-based position in Alfreton.
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 per annum, based on experience.
