Our client are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join their team based in Derby. 
 
As the new Control Systems Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of Controls Engineering including, but not limited to PLC’s and HMI’s. 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
You will be required to provide detailed documentation both during and upon project completion to other engineering departments and for the end user, such as FDS’s, FAT’s, User Manuals etc. 
Involvement in Design & Development of new Control Systems. 
PLC / HMI Programming – Rockwell / Mitsubishi. 
Implementation of Control Systems Software & Associated Equipment. 
Support of existing and legacy Control systems and Machines. 
Following department procedures (SOP’s) to ensure software is developed in a controlled and repeatable manner. 
Upgrading of Existing Equipment & Integration with new Automation / Controls. 
Development of Functional, Detailed and Software Design Specifications from User Requirement Specifications. 
Carry out Factory Acceptance testing & Site Acceptance testing. 
Support the sales teams using your technical expertise to generate new business. 
Build relationships with customers to identify their needs. 
Working to agreed timescales & tight deadlines. 
 
Competencies: 
 
Educated in a relevant engineering discipline to HNC / HND qualification. 
Must have worked in a packaging equipment or special purpose machinery industry engineering products such as rotary machines, process equipment and air, vacuum & mechanical conveyors. 
A proven track record in all aspects of automation control for automated machinery projects is essential. 
Ensure that all necessary customer requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
3+ years’ experience in Control Systems design / PLC’s / HMI’s 
Software design & PLC software experience – Rockwell / Siemens etc 
Experience in motion control / servo control systems would be advantageous. 
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to deal with the response time pressures that can arise due to the nature of this industry. 
Ability to convert verbal, written, and other media-based information into project documentation. 
Excellent computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and Outlook etc. 
The ability to simultaneously organise and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities. 
A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude. 
Ability to works as an individual or as part of a team 
A drive and determination to succeed.
