Our client who are based in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire are looking for Design Engineer to join their team. 
 
The successful candidate will have experience with bespoke steel fabrication and assembly experience. 
 
You responsibilities as the new Design Engineer: 
 
Update and refine 3D models of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (SolidWorks), including updating 2D working drawings. 
Review and verify 2D engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and technical specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards. Make necessary modifications to drawings as required. 
Identify and resolve engineering issues related to mechanical design and system performance of industrial dampers to ensure efficient operation and functionality. 
Evaluate existing designs and propose modifications or improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability. 
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and revision control of engineering drawings, design changes, and project updates. 
Work closely with cross-functional teams including project managers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, procurement, and quality to implement design solutions and address engineering challenges. 
Ensure all design modifications and engineering activities comply with project and industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. 
 
Skills and requirements as the new Design Engineer: 
 
ONC / Level 3 Qualification (minimum) or bachelor’s degree (desirable) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 
Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modelling, 2D drafting and assembly (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA), preferably Solid Works. 
Proven experience in mechanical design and CAD modelling within the industrial manufacturing or engineering sector. 
Experience working in a design environment associated with bespoke steel fabrications and assemblies. 
Able to interpret technical drawings, requirements and specifications. 
Familiarity with design standards, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawing practices. 
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and fabrication techniques. 
Ideally have some experience of pneumatics and instrumentation, including simple wiring diagrams. 
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues. 
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality of work. 
Competency using Microsoft Office software. 
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to diverse audiences. 
 
About the role: 
 
Monday – Friday 
£25,000 - £37,000 
Flexible scheme of working hours (flexitime).
